Sending a Delegation = a Small Fundraising & Profile Raising Event
My Chapter had a nice arrangement with their Village delegations, where every delegation it sent had to hold a small fundraising event for the Chapter. The deal was: you (parents) get to send your child on a CISV programme and in return you have to do something for the Chapter. This could be different things and it was generally up to the delegation (or rather the parents) to decide what to do. My delegation, for example, stood outside one of the local supermarkets and sold lottery tickets. We had a big CISV flag hanging off the front of our table and a couple of CISV brochures to hand out if anyone was interested. At the end of the afternoon, our delegation had made perhaps £200 for the Chapter and a little bit of local profile raising.
