Where and when

Lisbon, Portugal. 12 July to 30 July 2012

Theme and project

The IPP worked in a disadvantaged neighborhood, an autonomous community mainly formed by ex-Portuguese-colonies immigrants. Together with the Moinho da Juventude, participants focused on the social inequality and worked on  empowerment of the local community.

The IPP partook in public space requalification, educational activities with the children, helping Moinho da Juventude to come up with innovative activities and programs, improve the organizations public image and marketing in order to get more funds and volunteers.

Partner organization

Moinho da Juventude was born from informal work of animation for children, of women’s fight for better working conditions and sanitary improvement. Today this association is a community wide project. It was established by the residents who were facing common problems and who have been through a joint action, extending and consolidating the foundations and objectives of their lives.

Participant profile

Participants needed to be good at interacting with people, culturally sensitive, willing to learn and open to new experiences.
