Why get the word out about our research?

The results of CISV-initiated research need to be disseminated and exposed to the scrutiny of fellow researchers. To this end, CISVers have presented their results at international conferences, workshops and other events. Read about some recent presentations (link)

Recent conference

Mobility spaces, learning spaces: Linking policy, research and practice, hosted in snowy Berlin in March 2013, was a follow-up to the International Conference ‘Framework, Quality, and Impact of Young Europeans’ Learning Mobility’ held at the European Youth Centre  in sunny Budapest 11 - 13 May 2011.

At the earlier conference Tamara Thorpe and Jennifer Watson presented a paper on competence based evaluation with the CISV PDPEF as core example.  They wrote up the essential content of this presentation as ‘Experiential learning in youth mobility programmes: a tool to plan, monitor and evaluate’.  This is included in the book launched at the Berlin conference: Learning Mobility and Non-formal Learning in European Contexts - Policies, Approaches, Examples (published by the Council of Europe).

As a group of organisations with a range of interests in the educational possibilities of youth exchange, travel and international learning opportunities, these conferences had been sponsored and organised through intercultural exchange organisations based in Germany.  This second meeting also saw further constitutional development of this ‘European Platform on Learning Mobility’ (www.learningmobility.eu) and it was suggested that the next meeting be hosted in France in 2015.
