Community Leadership in Argentina

Belen Quesada and Debbie Schmulewitz are active global citizens and members of CISV Buenos Aires.

Uniendo Caminos is an Non-Governmental Organization supporting youth that come from low-income families. It helps them complete high school and continue to build their personal life projects.

Camino Unido, one of their programmes, works with youth in their last high school year, not only by helping them build their personal life project but also by encouraging them to become community leaders who will act as agents of change in their communities.

Youth who grow up in under-privileged environments can have a really low frustration and tolerance thresholds. This project worked to provide participants with the attitudes, skills and knowledge that would ensure their success in this year’s community projects. We planned a one-day workshop that would help them gain these attitudes, skills and knowledge.

Eleven youth came to spend a Saturday with us. We had the chance to help them start planning their community project. During December they were able to successfully deliver their project. Watch this video to learn more about the project.
